DIY Project 1: Creating ORB lamp for my living room

If not...check it out now..its so gorgeous..

I was looking for a lamp for my living room and absolutely loved it...but there was no way my husband would ever approve $998+tax for a lamp...plus he would think I am crazy...lol


So, somehow it stuck to me and I started looking for DIY solutions for this...I wanted two of these lamps to make a statement.

Now, mind you, if I were to purchase these from Anthropologie my cost would be $2146....total rip off..

But lucky me...found a DIY solution from our friends at Design Sponge....I loved the idea..so without waiting a single sec...I went out shopping..

Things I needed:
2 Paper Lanterns from World Market: Approx. $20
White Paper Liners from Amazon:Approx $12
Mini Cupcake Liners from Etsy =$22
Glue
Mini Gems from Hobby Lobby: Approx $20

Total cost of the project: Approx $74....

I followed mostly all steps layed out in the blog by Design Sponge...but felt sth was missing so added a single gem in the middle of the mini cup cake liners.

This is how my lamps turned out...

Pictures don't do justice to my lamps...but they look awesome in person and are definitely a conversation piece..

One lesson learnt from this adventure...I can still make my house look good without spending crazy amount of money...
